Babies are frequently subject to rashes, intertrigo, excoriations, eczema, and other skin affections.

Erythema intertrigo is a hyperæmic disorder occurring on parts where the natural folds of the skin come in contact, and is characterized by redness, to which may be added an abraded surface and maceration of the epidermis.

The accumulation of sweat and dust between the folds of the skin and on the surface of the harness, and the specially acrid character of the sweat in certain horses, contribute to chafing or "intertrigo."
