  • The Hyopotamidæ regarded as a subfamily of Anthracotheriidæ, having the four upper premolars resembling the true molars, and with tubercles in transverse series separated by transverse valleys, and the preceding three molars successively more and more differentiated. Besides Hyopotamus, the subfamily contains the genus Bothriodon (Aymard) or Ancodus (Pomel).
