The roots of the spearmint or peppermint, boiled to a strong tea and sweetened with loaf sugar is an excellent remedy for puking and purging in infants -- (called cholera infantum.) The spearmint is said by some to be an efficacious remedy for suppression of urine, gravelly affections, &c.; it is prepared by bruising the green herb and adding enough of the fourth proof Holland gin to make a saturated tincture -- dose, a wine glassful taken as often as the patient can bear it.
