  • Does anyone have the etymology for this? It seems to have something to do with construction workers or prostitutes or the number of saloons in a town in the old west or the number of beheadings in some old play or newspaper boys and horse races.

  • Spotted this term being discussed in Lexicon Valley Episode No. 75 at the 20 minute mark.

    The podcast said that 23 referred to the Flatiron Building in New York and people's dresses being affected by the wind.
