Although Eve is linked with the beginnings of sin in the earliest mentions of her outside the Hebrew Bible — in the Jewish noncanonical Book of Sirach, as well as in the New Testament and in other early Jewish and Christian works — she is not called a sinner in the Genesis 2 – 3 account.
