wildcat56 commented on the word a reef-point
one of a set of short ropes attached to or through a sail that can be tied together around a section of sail that has been rolled or folded up in order to secure it (a process called reefing). One reefs a sail to reduce the amount of surface area the sail has exposed to the wind. Hence, “didn’t have a single reef point in her” means the full surface of the sails were exposed to the wind.
