The 14-35 looks to be a lot bulkier but all tests shows that it is almost as crisp and sharp wide open as when stepped down in apperture.

So would anybody be able to tell me, what is considered the 'Standard' focal length for different applications (e.g. portrait, walk around, street photography, landscape etc,) why is it considered that this focal length is ideal for this application, and what prime (in terms of focal length, not necessarily build and maximum apperture) would be best to investigate for
