I suppose the reasons for archaizing may be multiple, and not mutually exclusive examples that come to mind are Luke's Septuagintal-style Greek in the early chapters, or the Book of Mormon's KJV English, and I think that in fact the KJV's English may have included archaic features under the influence of earlier translations.
