we watched la jetee, the film on which twelve monkeys was based. it's actually 'filmed' as a series of black and white still photographs, only half an hour in length, accompanied by a beautiful narration of the story. i cried, quite loudly, at the end. something about that story and the questions about existence and time and the frozen moments in those still photographs just broke my heart.
