My understanding of the Biodel VIAject trials is that this insulin was faster (but only by a matter of of a few minutes, according to my own endocrinologist, who is on Biodel's Board of Scientific Advisors) than existing rapid-acting analogue insulins now sold (e.g. lispro, aspart and glulisine).
