• noun One of a pair of plates on either side of the anus in many insects.
• noun That portion of the membrane of a bat which lies between the hind legs and includes the tail; the interfemoral membrane. This is subdivided by Harrison Allen into the endopatagium and mesopatagium, the two being divided by a line drawn from the elbow.
