why does this word look alien to me? is it because I use were not instead. maybe it's a visual thing. visually stringing the letters weren together makes something that by phonics would sound different than were not or weren't. also, doesn't doesn't look right when I stare at it long enough. doesn ' t ... doesn? maybe it's because the double-u looks like a double-v.
