For those unfamiliar with the term DU it stands for Depleted Uranium, it is a very heavy substance said to be mildly radioactive in solid form however when weapons with DU tips or cores hit solid objects they punch right on through and at which point the core or tip explodes in a cloud of dust and vapour.
