Going back to basics, many people think the GHA is a flawed entity thank you Wendy, getting too big for its boots and reneging on the intentions of downsizing to smaller localised units.

An audit should always be more of a scratch than a tickle and if the GHA don't like the results of the audit then there should be a clearance meeting attended by the Housing Minister where all issues can be argued out and agreed upon, or at least agreed to be disagreed upon, before a final report is drawn up.

I've just looked at the Sunday Herald again and it doesn't make clear that Mr Dornan would have been placed on the board of the body running Culture and Leisure as a Council nominee (like Grant Thoms was on the Board of the GHA before he was thrown off!) as the Council had floated off Culture and Leisure as a faux charity (as they did with housing) to attract investment.

Perhaps GHA could (as critics of the proposal argue) turn itself around, but that's not a gamble we like.
