My workmate was telling me that he was really impressed with Gatto's Against School essay & I told him "yeah, but the problem with citing Gatto is you have to deal with the fact that people will point out that he is a socialist and use that as an excuse to discount his ideas." (not that I agree with that practice, but that's essentially what happens whenever you try to present the views of the radical to the mainstream.)
