Her Mollison Library catalogue cards were carefully drafted on slips of scrap paper in the spidery longhand of which I still treasure numerous specimens, mostly cheeky postcards that she sent to me while I was living in Rome, and much later in New York, and Adelaide.

The intent was that that by rapidly training individuals in a core set of design principles, that those individuals could become designers of their own environments and able to build increasingly self-sufficient human settlements that reduce societies reliance on industrial systems of production and distribution that Mollison identified as fundamentally and systematically destroying the earths ecosystems.
