I know people who are doing what they can to approximate running barefoot by running in shoes such as Vibram Five Fingers, but except for people who run on a beach somewhere I personally don't know of anyone who runs on the road, or on a treadmill even, without anything on their feet.

Vibram soles are the best of the best, but they are still rubber, in water, on slick, snotty-like surfaces and they don't stick if you don't have any studs.
