As far as your comments go, who cares what additional distros you use, the whole bunty / pclinuxos thing was very 2007 and was down to a select few playing to the eyes / ears of there listeners, and others biting.

In the bunty install where the card works can you try opening a konsole / xterm and try the following 3 commands one at a time and report back with the results lsmod | grep p54pci lsmod | grep p54usb lsmod | grep prism54PCLinuxOS any result will show which module is being used.
