Try to do something that worked before the update like open a USB drive with Explorer (not always) or check contents of a cd-r (not always) or generally just leave the computer for a while and it will stop responding at all.

Better encode times will depend on your CPU thanks all for your posts & I am not trying to get mine on cd-r either, I have WD TV Media player, & a 750 GB HDD, so file size isnt a factor for me.

The problem is, when I insert the blank cd-r into the drive, it kicks it back out at me after about 10 seconds.
