- In Günther's system of classification of fishes, a group of Siluridæ homalopteræ, having the gill-membranes not confluent with the skin of the isthmus, and the dorsal fin uniformly composed of feeble rays, or with its posterior portion modified into an adipose fin: same as the family Clariidæ.
