- noun In Celtic antiq., a sword, usually of bronze, and having the form which is described as leaf-shaped (see
sword ), the tongue being in one piece with the blade, and the barrel of the hilt being formed by riveting a plate of wood, bone, or horn upon each side of the tongue.
