The entailed, complex metaphor of Aristotle's philosophy. The World is primary but the mind can directly know things because its idea is the essence of things, which perforce correspond to it. Based on the embodied, primary metaphor: "Understanding is Grasping (as if physical objects)".
Contrast Plato's entailed complex metaphor--"Idea is Essence": The mind is primary, the world of things secondary, but the mind can gain knowledge of things via its perception of the Ideal.
