Occasional shrublands consisting of mesquite (Prosposis glandulosa), huisache (Acacia farnesiana), lime prickly ash (Zanthoxylum fagara), and Texas persimmon (Diospyros texana) may be found in the lower one third of the Texas coast and into Tamaulipas.
