I don't know what worries me more: the fact that half the electorate has (have?) unyielding loyalties to one party or another, and would vote for a pig with the right rosette in its buttonhole; or the tendency of much of the remainder to switch preference with every gaffe, 'revelation', or snide statement, or to refrain from voting at all out of mental laziness, cynicism, or despair and general fed-up-ness.
