  • An order of chondrosteous ganoid fishes, containing only the Acipenseridæ or true sturgeons, thus separated from the Selachostomi: so called from having the mouth furnished with barbels like those of catfishes: synonymous with Chondrostei, 2, in a strict sense. See Ganoidei, 2. Also written Glanostomi, Glanistomi.
