  • A family of hexactinelline sponges, or glass-sponges, of the order Silicoidea, and typified by the genus Hyalonema, having a long stem of fine silicious threads, at one end of which is the sponge proper; the glass-rope sponges. There are several other genera, as Pheronema, Stylocalyx, and Poliopogon. Also Hyalone-matidæ.
