- noun One who or that which interchanges; specifically, in artificial ice-making, a tank containing a coil of pipes, or its equivalent, through which the brine cooled by the ice-machine, after extracting all the heat possible from the ice-molds in the ice-making tank, is caused to flow.
- noun That part of an apparatus for the liquefaction of air wherein the compressed air is allowed to expand and is thus cooled to its point of liquefaction.
