Like you are about 8-10 inches from putting your thumbs in your ears (palms forward). Kind of like a "Ta-da" flourish.

Ah, yes, I forgot to mention that jazz hands only can be understood by people with gnarly feet, like dancers. Oh, and also by people with un-sanitized feet, like everyone-else-in-the-world-except-yarb.
