"Just a little bit."
While I was in the Navy, I heard this expression used primarily by folks who had served in Japan. In Japanese, "sukoshi" means "a little (bit)". The "u" and "i" are whispered, not voiced, and are almost silent.

Probably lots of odd 'military life' terms out there WillW. Why not make a list of those? :-)

I don't know Japanese as such, but I do know a lot of words are pronounced like that, with first and third syllables elided

I agree that the "u" is not voiced (similar to suki), but I have been taught to pronounce the "i".
