  • noun In iron shipbuilding, a longitudinal plate which limits the double bottom at the turn of the bilge. The lower edge is connected to the outside plating by an angle-bar, and the upper edge is flanged over horizontally, and the inner-bottom plating riveted to it. See cuts at double bottom and bracket, 9 .
