The independence of TU and mass organisations is today a very "sensitive" issue - this is for some bad reasons ( "movementist illusions"), but mostly for good reasons given past experiences of instrumentalisation and manipulation.

(no surprise) more than they add to their context (more surprising), the politics tend to be tied to something like a movementist perspective which does not address questions of organization and which tend to minimize the utility of previous critical vocabularies and political / organizational practices.

You cannot look at the situation and come to conclusory statements about what is going on and how to impact it because it is constantly moving, and if you're not in the flow of that movement (not as a movementist, but by directly addressing the problems of the masses in a revolutionary way - leading them through analysis and then struggle to actual victories) then the only lessons you will draw will be second-hand lessons provided by those who are actually doing politics (in the sense of controlling the conception of how political "change" occurs), i.e. Obama and his coterie.
