Before I ever read fanfic, I just thought it was ooc stories with bad grammar and dialogue and Mary Sues (my opinion was formed by my sister, who had read Hercules and Xena fanfic), but people kept recommending Disheveled on TWOP.

And I will add, I bring this up after having had a number of (otherwise good) roleplayers tell me ooc they want things to be more laid back, less intense, that they come to SL to relax, etc.

At one point, the ooc posts outnumbered the ic posts by about eight to one (mostly jokes about "boobs").

WoW is fine, if you just want to shut your brain off and coast, but it can't compare to actual rp, when the rp is good, when it's straight-up improvisational theatre, and is not ruined by incessant ooc drama and nonsense.

And, for what it's worth, Insilico does have strict rules about ooc behavior, it's just that lots of people ignore them and GMs rarely enforce them.

She is the very definition of ooc drama, and is utterly incapable of discerning RL from rp.
