  • noun A name given by Reichenbach to the nickel-iron alloy which, as seen in the etched surface of a section of meteoric iron, forms a sort of ground-mass inclosed by the bands of kamacite and thin lines of tænite. See Widmannstättian figures and meteorite. Plessite is now regarded as an eutectic mixture of kamacite and tænite.
