• noun The colorless hydrocarbon C₁₀H₁₆, occurring in india-rubber. The impurities are removed by successive extraction with water, alcohol, and ether. The residue is dissolved in chloroform and precipitated as pure polyprene by adding alcohol. It is apparently a polyterpene of high molecular weight.
