  • noun In entomology, a part or parts adapted for seizing or clasping: specifically applied to the posterior legs when the bases are very distant, the femora converging, and the tibiæ diverging and opposable, so that each leg forms an inward angle, generally armed with spines, as in certain Arachnida, etc.
