I submit that the reason that some preterists may react to criticism the way they do is because simply many have been literally hunted down as heretics by their churches and even families; when they are being accused of heresy, gnosticism, you name it, it becomes rather difficult to interact on a level that is conducive to further fruitful conversation.

I think preterists will need to take a step back from their particular dogmatic commitments - indeed, we all need to do this in our different ways - and find a place from which we can explore the metanarrative constructively together without descending into sectarian polemics and name-calling.
