• A series or suborder of gamopetalous plants of the order Scrophularineæ, having some relationship with the order Solanaceæ, and characterized by alternate leaves, uniformly centripetal inflorescence, a five-lobed corolla with the two upper lobes exterior, and four, sometimes five, perfect stamens.
