from The Century Dictionary.
- noun A compound of raffinose with a base, as calcium raffinosate, 3CaO.C18H31O16 + 2H2O, a crystalline powder, by means of which raffinose can be separated from saccharose, because it is less soluble in alcohol than calcium saccharate. When treated with an acid it yields raffinose and the calcium salt of the acid.
