Last year on our annual trek to Cape Cod we averaged 19. 5mpg loaded to the hilt with three kids, two dogs, two adults, and a 17 foot square back Old Town Canoe strapped to the roof and flanked on both sides by two kayaks (strapped two 2x4's cut to fit to the roofrack to widen it's capacity and get three boats up there).
