We moved onto a small glacier, taking skinny crevasses in easy steps until the flatness gave way to a snowslope at the base of a rocky ridge, which we scrambled up, agog at the view before us: The Northeast Ridge of Bugaboo Spire, a massive pyramid of rock towering over the glacier, nearly blotting out the sky.
