As for explaining in a clearer fashion, that would certainly help because it would allow the legislature a better tool for spotting issues and correcting them for the benefit of thecourt.

If Roberts had a defector, he would have had the controlling opinion, as his grounds are narrowest, but it would not have been the opinion of thecourt.
