Urban dictionary has a defintion going back to 2006.

a google phrase search has Tess of the D'urbervilles page 386 "Above, Jupiter hung like a full-blown jonquil, so bright as almost to throw a shade. " but that's a different definition from the new Urban Dictionary.

Another totally different version is seen in the 1800's.
