I remember articles in the 1990's about the impending leisure crisis, ie. that technology would soon reduce everyone's working hours to such a degree that we would all have oodles and oodles of spare time and not enough ways with which to fill it.
I suspect such things were bruited by the same sick puppies who overhyped the paperless office.
