    Since I kinda already knew what "gripes" means in this sense, I didn't bother adding it to the Aubrey/Maturin list. But it sure does belong on Specific Excrement.

  • p.s. This makes me wonder if there's such a thing as dry gripes, and if not, the phrase wet gripes is really quite disgustingly redundant.
