Sure, the guy was an astronaut, you're gonna do astrobiology experiments, and I don´t think getting to Everest's summit is a mere tourist thing as yakyak suggests, but all this looks just like a sponsorship opportunity: Scott gets to finance his journey, you get the deal with Discovery Channel.
