Organic mineral described from fossilized roots of spruce found in a swamp in Bavaria. Occurs as disphenoidal crystals. The name recognizes a Turkish journalist interested in the sciences, Refik-Bey. Though originally described from specimens in Bavaria, the type locality of this mineral is Montorio al Vomano, Teramo Province, Abruzzo, Italy.
