Is it obsolete because all those people finally figured out that standing around waiting for someone to estimate their number was really boring? (Or because serfdom was abolished?)

I'd venture to guess that it's obsolete because no one knew how to pronounce the darn thing without tripping over it and slamming on the mouth-brakes.
