The name tubaphone is applied to an instrument related to the glockenspiel, as well as a style of banjo produced by A.C. Fairbanks and later by Vega. The tubaphone tone ring beneath the head of these banjos produces the stout plunky tone that is much loved by old time and traditional music players.
