A 5 wt. is where it is at speaking in general terms. it use to be a 6 wt. was the all around rod, but with the improvement in rods the best sellers now are 5wt for an all-arounder, mainly because tippets are now thinner and stronger, and anglers fish smaller flies a lot more than they use to, and the 5wt. will handle them adequately.
