Fabulous list. There is a "spit and sawdust" pub in the east end of Glasgow called The Saracen's Head. I see it's not alone!

Entertaining list gangerh. I remember Hootenanny from Inverness, which was about to franchise south of the border as I was leaving. I'm not sure how you franchise crap service and overpriced drinks served in the gloom, but there you go.
